PSA! EQUESTRIAN DRESSING IS ABOUT TO TAKE OVER YOUR A/W WARDROBE
By Lizzie Griffin, 5 October 2024
If last autumn was all about quiet luxury, then AW24 is about zoning in on old-money influences – like horse riding. Don’t worry, we’re not taking it literally, but we are embracing styles that feel heritage-coded and mixing them into a contemporary look. Yes, the equestrification of your FYPs is inevitable – so to help you get ahead, we’re sharing the trend highlights and getting the lowdown from Thomas Robinson, our Head of Womenswear Design. Saddle up!
ALL THE DRAMA
‘This autumn sees the return of the blouse – it’s going to be a key item.’ Yep, Thomas called it. If there’s one way to win best in show, it’s by picking a blouse with all the drama. Our verdict? The bigger the collar, the better. If that’s a little too much for you, then dial it down with a flared-sleeve shirt.
MODERN CHECKS
Cast your mind back to June, when Kendall Jenner and Gigi Hadid rode horses through Paris (in head-to-toe Hermès) during Vogue World – and take note. Thomas says: ‘We love this blazer – it’s heritage checks, made contemporary.’ If you’re looking for a classic silhouette with a raw-edge hem, sans lapels – you’ve found it. Also of note: Gant is back in a big way, and this houndstooth sweater is proof.
WESTERN 2.0
Don’t hang up your denim jacket just yet – the Western trend is here to stay, now with equestrian influences. Refresh your aesthetic with new denim silhouettes, eyelet hardware and fringing. Very cutesy.
90s LANDSCAPE PRINTS
‘This is a standout dress’, says Thomas about the look on the left. ‘It’s a new shape with a nod to a heritage horse print’. But if you wanted to dip a toe into the trend and keep it more casual, then look out for our horse print top; we think it does the most when paired with barrel-leg jeans.

CERTIFIED HORSE GIRL
‘There’s a nod to equestrian dressing in every piece’, says Thomas, and we agree – it’s all in the details. This high-shine burgundy (AKA colour of the season) skirt creates the sleek contrast needed to make this look feel modern, while the heritage vibes come through in the details – patterned neck scarves, suede, and gold-tone hardware on loafers. Oh, and move over, cowboy boots! Riding boots are having their moment.
