SOPHIE FLOYD ON HER SEOL + GOLD JEWELLERY COLLAB
By Ayis Stephen-Diver, 2 August 2024

Seol + Gold x Sophie Floyd 18ct gold vermeil good luck charm bracelet, £32
Hey Sophie, congrats on the collab! Where does your love for jewellery come from?
Thank you! I’m so excited to be launching my *second* edit with Seol + Gold. I’ve always loved collecting and wearing jewellery from a young age. One of my first pieces of jewellery was a charm bracelet – it had these really big gold charms with clowns, flowers and my initial. I absolutely loved it and the noise all the charms made. I think that may have started my lifelong obsession with over-the-top jewellery!
Love that! How did the collab come about?
We had so much fun and loved last year's one so much, that it only made sense to come back bigger and better for round two!
Seol + Gold had sourced or designed all the pieces with this collection in mind. We then went through all the potential pieces and eventually narrowed it down to a collection that looked cohesive and had a little bit of everything. I wear and collect a lot of vintage jewellery so it was important for the pieces to have that lived-in, pre-loved feel to them. I also had creative control over which pieces made it to the edit, so the collection feels like a glimpse into my own jewellery box.
There are a lot of cowboycore motifs – what's the story behind them?
We really leant into the western theme after the cowboy charm from last year’s collection sold out multiple times. I grew up horseriding and had a pair of earrings just like the horseshoes from this collection, so anything equestrian makes me happy!

18ct gold vermeil bow earrings, £36
Super cute. What’s your fave piece in the collection?
That’s a tricky decision – I love all the pieces so much, but the gold bow hoops are extra special to me. I love how feminine and fun they are.
This collection is everything I love about jewellery and self-expression melted together. Fun statement pieces, mixed metals, coloured stones, everyday pieces, as well as layerable pieces! It encourages people to have fun with their jewellery.
We <3 it. How would you style different pieces for different occasions?
It was important to us that this collection had something for everyone and would be inspiring to style – there are more classic everyday pieces mixed in with statement ones. There are some really summery tropical flower charms that would be perfect on holiday, and the star huggie hoops would look amazing for a party or event!

18ct gold vermeil chain necklace, £37
Maximalist jewellery’s trending RN – what’s your *expert* advice on layering necklaces?
My recipe for stacking is: more is more! For the perfect necklace stack, I’d build a mix of different lengths and textured chains, adding in charms to personalise your stack to your style. Top tip: different textured chains stop them from tangling!

I’m actually loving how different trends allow people to explore different aesthetics and experiment with their looks. This collection also encourages people to try something different with their everyday jewellery and have FUN!
We love your beauty content too! What’s your fave makeup and hair combo right now?
Thank you! I’m all about a sheer glowy, blushy base this season. My hair gets whatever small amount of time is left once my makeup is finished – usually airdried waves in summer!
