INSPIRATION AND ADVICE

WHY IT'S CHAPPELL ROAN'S WORLD, AND WE'RE JUST LIVING IN IT

If you haven’t already heard The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess, let us guide you into the glittery universe of Chappell Roan, AKA, pop’s latest princess. The singer is an avant-garde icon, clearly echoing the likes of Cyndi Lauper, Alanis Morissette and Lady Gaga. With her cowboy-core ‘fits and iconic makeup looks, she’s like a never-ending carousel of style personas, so naturally we wanted to share the reasons why we’re loving her RN.

#1 SHE'S ANYTHING BUT ORDINARY

Despite being from a small town in Missouri, this brave Midwest princess doesn’t LA-ify herself to fit into the norm. Where most albums are expected to have eight songs, each under three minutes to cater to the TikTok generation, Chappell did things her way by releasing a critically acclaimed album with 14 anthems, all over three minutes long! Oh, and in the music video of her HOT TO GO! song, the redhead serves in an *unreal* blue sequin-covered bodysuit that lives in our heads rent-free.

#2 HER STAGE OUTFITS ARE SUPER FUN

The last time our jaws were on the floor after seeing an unpredictable stage ‘fit was during Lady Gaga’s era (remember *that* bubble dress from 2009?) You’ve probably seen Chappell embodying new characters for each and every performance, but our favourite has to be when she emerged out of an apple while cosplaying as the Statue of Liberty at this year's Gov Ball! Plus, we loved seeing her pay homage to drag queen, Divine from Pink Flamingos at Kentuckiana Pride, wearing a red maxi dress with a leopard-print bra.

3. HER STATEMENT EYES

When it comes to Chappell’s beat, her eye makeup has a personality of its own. The eyeliner *shouldn’t* work with the lipliner, but it does; her brows are cartoonishly thin, but it serves. Want to copy her dramatic looks? We suggest playing with bright eye shadow and completing your look with the Charlotte Tilbury mascara.
