INSPIRATION AND ADVICE

HOW TO MAKE YOUR CLOTHES LAST LONGER

Thanks to collections like Nike’s Move To Zero, we’re all a bit savvier now when it comes to shopping responsible fashion. But, once you’ve bought those more sustainable styles, getting maximum mileage out of your gear is just as important for the planet. To get some tips and tricks for making your garms last as long as poss, we caught up with Henry, an ASOS Marketplace vintage seller. Check out his suggestions below and peep him modelling the latest Move To Zero drop.

TRAINERS

Whether you’ve copped Nike’s new 25%-recycled Crater Impacts or a vintage pair of Dunks, keeping your kicks as fresh as the day you unboxed them is priority number one for any self-respecting sneakerhead. Treat ’em to a dose of protective spray every few weeks to ward off moisture and dirt, and tool up with a specialist cleaning kit to tackle any marks. Another pro tip? Give your sneaks the once-over after every wear – a quick brush or wipe-down will stop dust and dirt building up. Whatever happens, don’t even think about throwing them in the washing machine. They’ll thank you for it.

ACTIVEWEAR

Make sure your workout gear packs as much punch as your training regime by washing ASAP after every use. Air-dry before tossing in the laundry, and skip the softener, which can damage the fabric’s technical properties. Instead, add a dash of lemon juice or baking soda to the detergent dispenser for maximum freshness. As for swimwear, give it a rinse in cool water to remove chlorine or sea salt (which can break down and discolour the fabric), choose a delicate wash cycle and air dry.
