TAKE NOTE: WALL STREET MAFIA

Welcome to Take Note, our series spotlighting the most-exciting Black-owned brands in the biz. This Black History Month we've teamed up with GUAP, the go-to platform for all things fashion, music and Black culture, to find the trendsetters who are disrupting the fashion scene. Of course we had to hit up Wall Street Mafia (WSM), whose iconic streetwear you've probs already seen on your FYP and on your fave celebs. Check out our chat with the founders.

Our anniversary warehouse party last year. 1,200 people came out to celebrate with us and it was truly memorable.

How do you incorporate your cultures into the brand?
One specific example is the crochet knits. It started as an exclusive drop in Nigeria, before being released to the general public a year later.

What challenges have you faced as a black-owned brand in an industry historically dominated by non-black voices?
It often feels like you have to work twice as hard to be seen and valued. To tackle this, we’ve focused on building a strong, authentic presence that shares not just the clothes, but the stories behind them.

How do you hope WSM inspires the next generation of Black creatives?
We hope it shows that authenticity is enough. You don’t have to be a certain way to carve out your own space and build something valuable.

Which other Black-owned brands are doing big things right now?
Stay on the lookout for 4TF, Lostboys and GCLO.
