YOUR LAST-MINUTE FESTIVAL LOOK: VINTAGE EDITION
By Steven Potter, 12 August 2024

Jorts are already the shorts style of the summer but, one particular version lands extra clout: the carpenter. Add the fact that this pair is vintage Dickies – one of our workwear-dropping favourites – and we’re sold. Also, just think how useful all those pockets will be for things like SPF, wet wipes and sunglasses. Unbeatable.

Maybe it’s the Euros effect, maybe it's bands like Fontaines DC, Idles and Soft Play landing blokecore-inspired looks on the regular, but one thing’s for sure – vintage football shirts are always at home in big crowds. Oh, and with a top-tier vintage pattern from the 90s (arguably the best era for football-shirt design), you'll be much easier to spot in the crowd when you lose your mates before that band you all want to see.

The Reading and Leeds lineup is always varied, but the festival’s legacy is one of rock, metal, Britpop and indie. Pay homage to the headliners of old like Oasis, Blur and Pulp with this vintage track top – they were basically the Britpop uniform for the bands and fans of the 90s. Also, lightweight layers are vital for when the sun goes down.

It’s day three of a “shower” that consists of 5647 wet wipes and so much dry shampoo that your hair feels like it’s made of chalk – it’s time for a hat. This one from The North Face loves being outdoors – all the brand’s gear does – so it will definitely keep you sweet during rain, wind, sunshine and even thunderstorms – which, during late August, you can get all before 2pm. Happy camping!
