FOOTBALL'S MOST STYLISH
By Kieran Murphy, 10 June 2024
With the football around the corner, summer’s well and truly kicking off. By now you’ll have ransacked ASOS for your favourite team kits – but what about your off-pitch gameplan? Thanks to a strong lineup of players who KNOW fashion, the footie is giving us ideas that go way beyond terrace style. Take notes on these elite ballers for your next night-out look.

HECTOR BELLERIN
He’s been described as the world’s best-dressed footballer and there’s not much to argue with here. Bellerin loves a colour moment – from hot-pink co-ords to the sunshine-yellow rollneck he sported at Milan Fashion Week. His secret, he claims, is 'knowing my body' – but judging by this ensemble, he's underselling his styling skill. The colour-pop, the houndstooth, the trouser cut – did we mention those braces? It all combines to give off the suavest vibe imaginable. (The moustache obviously helps.) Your next smart-casj appointment? Lock this 'fit down.

MASON MOUNT
After his big summer move to Manchester, Mason’s found another gear to his game – his style game, that is. Here he is at a premiere in 2022 looking pretty remarkable in Burberry tweed. It's the kind of oversized, 'borrowed from Dad'-style suit that feels mainstream in 2024, especially when styled with a white tee. He's 100% ahead of the curve, and we love that he’s not afraid of a fresh way with tailoring.

JULES KOUNDE
Where do we begin? The suit? The skirt? The shoulder pads? Here’s a man who’s not afraid to take risks. You don’t play this good a game without vision though – and those big tinted sunnies deliver. Outside of these red-carpet showstoppers, you’ll catch Jules sporting flared jeans, open shirts and a cuban heel that wouldn’t look out of place on Bruno Mars. And, credit to the lad, he may have perfected your next cocktail-bar outfit.

MO SALAH
This Egyptian King can really flex a suit – so if you’ve got a big occasion coming up, Mo’s going on the moodboard with this impressive tuxedo moment. He’s just as much of a natural off-duty, too – look to his latest shoot with British GQ (all retro adi and rugby shirts) for direction on how to rock sports casual in 2024.

SON HEUNG-MIN
Son’s mastered the art of making the complicated look simple. Just look at that subtly psychedelic check (Burberry again) and how it falls so effortlessly off his frame; he loves an elegant longline coat almost as much as he loves attacking dangerous areas. Tucked in T-shirt and pleated pants? Cheers, Son’s thriving.
