STYLING
HOT RN: NORMCORE
By Steven Potter, 2 August 2023

THE SHIRT
Topman Limited boxy shirt in blue, £38
See also: oversized. This shape was stylists' go-to for all those 90s sitcoms everyone still watches, so a shirt like this is a super simple way to give the stripped-back normcore look a lil nostalgic flavour 🤤

THE TREWS
ASOS DESIGN wide-leg trousers, £32
Normcore loves a plain pant – perf for your everyday rotation. Pair them with something baggy on top too, or opt for a slightly fitted tee as the perf pairing for your tip-top new trews.

THE TRAINERS
adidas Originals Nizza hi-top trainers, £85
The era of the understated sneaker is back. Partly thanks to Emily Ratajkowski's love for 'off-the-shelf' styles and partly because bots have taken the fun out of exclusive sneaker drops... 🥲 Anyway, these adi hi-tops deliver on all fronts: they're classic yet contemporary with just the right amount of branding 🤌

THE JACKET
ASOS DESIGN oversized denim jacket, £40
Let's face it, there aren't many trends a denim jacket can't be a part of – that's why they make such good investment pieces. Want proof? Wear this with the sneaks and trousers up top or swap those out for a band tee and skinny-ish jeans if you wanna nail 'indie sleaze does normcore'. See? An investment piece.

THE JEANS
Levi's Silvertab loose-fit jeans, £95
We told you the 90s would feature heavily. And we don't make the rules 🤷 The decade just KEEPS delivering. The trick to wearing these jeans the normcore way is exactly as above: gathered on top of your sneaks. But if you wanna keep things a lil neater, roll up those cuffs (and show off even more of your new kicks).

THE FINISHING TOUCHES
If you're reading this, you probs aren't new to the sandal saga. Once blacklisted for being 'fuddy and/or duddy', they're now OFFISH 'very cool'. Basically, if your dad would wear them, add 'em to bag. Then, there's arguably one of THE most recognisable logos of the 90s: GAP. We've seen a spike in searches for 'GAP logo clothing', and look what we have here... GAP's pretty much the original normcore trailblazer, too, so that's double the trend points 🧢
