HOW SOFTBOYS DO SUMMER STYLE

You've probably seen a lotta refs to softboy style on TikTok lately – but what's a 'softboy' and is it a good thing? While softboys are sent up for being an artsy, 'sensitive' version of your classic f-boy, their floppy-haired aesthetic (think BTS and Timothée Chalamet) has, in true TikTok style, become fashion inspo for SS21. So, grab your nearest Cons and pastel tee, and get familiar with softboy style this summer. 

A shirt is a softboy staple, best paired with sweatshirts (collar artfully pulled out) or worn open with swim shorts. And let’s not forget the perfect tee: anything oversized in an oh-so-softboy pastel shade is a winner. 

A tapered ankle-grazer is where it’s at for jeans. And ofc you should never pass up an opportunity to flex a moody hue: straight-leg chinos are your go-to when it’s not a jeans kinda thing, but you still wanna keep that softboy-off-duty look rollin'.

Winter may be the native climate of the softboy (see: all of that layering), but you also need to survive the warmer season. Switch up the jeans and chinos for equally *aesthetic* shorts when the temps get hot.

Classic Converse, Vans and all-white flatforms are a softboy must-have, but why not amp up the summery vibes with a pop of colour? And, of course, don't forget to really kick this into full softboy with a pair of pulled-up white socks.
