STYLE DESTINATION: IBIZA

We’re calling it, the Vengaboys know their islands. While their particular type of europop may not be for everyone (or anyone), there’s a reason that Ibiza is a permanent fixture on the holiday circuit come May to October – actually, there are a few. Interested in music, sunshine and good vibes? Come right this way… we’re going to Ibiza.

Wear this

Regulars to the White Isle like to keep their wardrobes as colourful as the nightlife. For a look as loud as Monday nights at DC-10, clash prints of every kind. Long gone are the days that one muscle vest fits all here, now you can sling your pink cross-body bag over tile-print shirts and standout swimwear for an audacious ‘fit that’s as ready for the pool as it is the after-party. For functional finishing touches, go with a classic cap up top to keep the sun at bay and slick sliders — your feet will thank you in the early hours.

Stay here

While sleeping might not be high on your agenda, come sunset, you’ll want to hit up Hostal La Torre in Cap Negret for some of the most impressive views (and tapas) on the island. With the Mambo Brothers (AKA Christian and Alan Anadon) at the helm, you can expect the same winning formula that they’ve applied to the iconic Café Mambo on San Antonio’s sunset strip – resident DJs and classic cocktails – but more low-key at this boutique hotel, which stays true to the island’s bohemian roots.

If you’re down to stay somewhere more in the mix, Playa d’en Bossa (located between the airport and the island’s biggest city, Ibiza Town) is home to Ibiza’s longest stretch of sand and superclubs Hï Ibiza and Ushuaïa, as well as swanky hotel options Hard Rock Hotel and Hotel Garbi.

Visit here

While the lure of the beach and the bars is strong here, for a break from the obvious, get lost in Ibiza Town’s cobbled streets and its hilltop old town, Dalt Vila. It’s got the UNESCO seal of approval, as well as plenty of restaurants and bars to grab a bite in. On Paseo de Vara de Rey, La Cava serves up its jamón ibérico and Galician-style octopus al fresco until 1am, all year round.

No trip to Ibiza would be complete without a stop at a superclub and since Space shut its doors in 2016 to be relaunched as Hï Ibiza the following year, it’s been given a new lease of life. For 2018, South African rising star Black Coffee (he’s collaborated with everyone from Drake to Alicia Keys) has been taking over the decks on Saturdays for what’s been called the residency of the season. Housekeeping, who you may have caught during their popular KOKO London shows, have also been providing stellar support in the venue’s Club room.
