THE BEST BREATHABLE TRAINERS

Summer means tearing off your trousers and sweatshirts in favour of shorts and tees. But what of your trainers? Have you sorted your seasonal sneaker switch-up yet? Yeah, of course, you could keep rocking the same footwear that took you through the cooler months, but now it’s high summer, you’re running the risk of turning your fave trainers into steamy little eco-systems. Probably a smart idea to cast an eye over the coolest breathable kicks on the market right now, then…

Here’s what happens when you take a historic icon, strap it to a rocket and blast into 2018. adidas has given one of its most legendary silhouettes a heck of a nice knitted makeover, and in doing so, have turned the Samba into even more of a streetwear gotta-get. Slip ’em on and you’re getting the same low-profile look and feel as the original

from 68 years back, but now with the added bonus of a cooling, adaptive, ultra-light and mega-comfortable sock-like upper. Yeah, we’re not taking ours anywhere near the five-a-side pitch either.

247 is a pretty apt name for a sneaker that’ll probably become your new all-day-every-day go-to as soon as you introduce it into your rotation. New Balance has been making seriously stylish iterations of this multi-mesh, super-comfy shoe by the bucketload for a while now (shout-out to their collab with sock company Stance),

but we think they look their freshest in straight and simple white. The 247s are so light and breathable that you can even go sockless with zero risk of going full foot-swamp in there. That's what we call a game-changer.

As your dear Ma would say, if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it. And, of course, she’d be bang on (we would never dare argue with your mum). Case in point: these classic Converse Chuck Taylor All Star ’70, in hardwearing yet breathable canvas, with added sweat-proofing courtesy of the two clever little ventilation holes near the inside soles.

Fun fact: you can also use these holes to lace up your shoes more snugly, which over time helps them mould to your feet for the perfect fit. Who knew?

Given how hard this sneaker has shaken up the running shoe scene, it’s amazing to think Nike’s Epic React Flyknit was only born in January 2018. But it’s not only the long-distance athletes that are drooling after its durability, secure fit, responsiveness and comfort, but the hypebeasts too, thanks to a bunch

of limited releases (like the dead-nice, super-rare Belgium pack), making these an absolute banger of an option, no matter if it’s the 10km finishing line or the pub garden you’re running for.
