STYLE AND CULTURE

STYLE LESSONS FROM TYLER, THE CREATOR

Tyler, The Creator's credentials? This year alone he's catapulted the eclectic-grandpa aesthetic into the mainstream, released a collection with Louis Vuitton and just dropped his latest album Chromakopia which we're *obsessed* with (Judge Judy and St. Chroma superiority, BTW). He's also cemented himself as a style icon – we've watched his progression from a Vans-obsessed skater to a connoisseur of campus styling. To mark the *many* achievements of this jack-of-all-trades, we're spotlighting his seven finest sartorial serves.

#1: COLLEGIATE STYLING

GANT colour block sweatshirt, £120

Repping his very own brand, Golf le Fleur, Tyler’s giving us old-school Ivy League Americana with this look: the cap, the cable knit, the matching LV crossbody bag – a masterclass of street-ready prep. Plus, he threw it back to his Igor-era styling with that chocolate brown/pink colour combo. Sweet.

#2: THE KING OF ECLECTIC GRANDPA-CORE

ASOS DESIGN relaxed knitted tank, £25

This aesthetic is synonymous with Tyler now. Graphic knit? Check. Loose fit? Check. Tailored trousers and trainers? Double check. Not many people can take elements of an older get-up and create outfits we all want to wear, but this is Tyler's world and we're just living in it.

#3: BROWN IS THE NEW BLACK

ASOS DESIGN Premium oversized real leather harrington jacket, £160

One of Tyler’s style signatures is his use of colour, echoed in his album eras – think the saturated tones of Cherry Bomb or the pastels of Call Me If You Get Lost. But one thing remains constant: his love for brown. From wearing a nostalgic brown boy-scout look on-stage to contrasting it with light pastels, follow his lead for your A/W wardrobe.

#4: DAY-TO-NIGHT CHINOS

Dickies 873 slim work chino trousers, £65

If there’s one thing about Sir Baudelaire, it’s that he *will* blend streetwear, grandpa-core and classic workwear. The red thread? Chinos. One pair can be taken from day to night – just swap your everyday bomber jacket for a wool overcoat, and your sneakers for loafers. *Aggressively adds to bag.*

#5: LEARN HOW TO LAYER

Polo Ralph Lauren logo poplin shirt, £129

Starting with a shirt base layer, Tyler often pairs his vast selection of knitted vests, cardigans and jumpers with oversized jackets, easing up each look with shorts and sneakers.

#6: GO BIG ON ACCESSORIES

Faded Future statement chain with green crystal in gold, £14

Tyler makes balancing an outfit an art-form – keeping the base simple and adding statement accessories is truly top-tier styling. Just change up your bag and hat for a whole new look, or try the foolproof matching glasses-and-chain combo. He emphasises that it's *all* in the details.

#7: SMART SHOES ARE KEY

Timberland 3 eye classic boat shoe, £180

It wouldn’t be an article on Tyler, The Creator’s style if we didn’t mention his love for smart shoes. You’ll probably catch him out-and-about in boat shoes, loafers or even Mary Janes, *always* with rolled-up socks (no matter the occasion).
